Elsa Stone, MD, founder of Pediatrics Plus, received her BS from the University of Chicago and her MD from Albert Einstein College of Medicine. She completed an internship and residency in pediatrics at Yale-New Haven Hospital and a fellowship in behavioral/developmental pediatrics at the Yale Child Study Center. She is an associate clinical professor of pediatrics at Yale and is board certified in pediatrics. Professionally, she is a past president of the Connecticut chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics and was on the board of trustees at Yale-New Haven Hospital. She is particularly interested in the developmental and behavioral aspects of pediatrics and delights in helping parents raise happy, healthy, confident children. In her free time, she likes to travel and spend time with her husband and their dog, Pogo.
Allison Cohen, MD joined Pediatrics Plus in 2004. She is board certified in pediatrics. She received her undergraduate degree from Duke University and then went north to Dartmouth Medical School. She returned to New York, her home city, for residency training at Mount Sinai Hospital, then stayed there in private practice until joining Pediatrics Plus. Her interests include skiing, travel, the applied arts, and spending time with her two daughters. Her husband is an orthopedic surgeon based in New Haven.
Christine Macken, MD joined Pediatrics Plus in 2009. She received her undergraduate degree in biochemistry from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and then returned home to New York to attend medical school at Weill Cornell Medical College. After medical school, she moved to Connecticut for residency training at Yale New Haven Children's Hospital. In her free time, she enjoys cross stitching, running, and spending time with her husband, son, and dog.
Zena Scates, MD received her BA in psychology from Washington University in Saint Louis and her MD from Saint Louis University. She completed her pediatric residency at Yale New Haven Hospital and joined Pediatrics Plus in 2009. She is especially interested in nutrition and obesity management. She enjoys spending her free time with her husband, daughter, and two dogs.
Stephanie Slattery, MD joined Pediatrics Plus in 2005 and is board certified in pediatrics. She received a BA in English from Williams College and a MD from Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York. She then moved to New Haven for residency training at Yale-New Haven Hospital. In her spare time, she is an avid reader; she also loves to knit, take pottery classes, and spend time with her husband and son.
Edward Zalitis, MD is board certified in pediatrics. He received his BA from Harvard University and his MD from Boston University School of Medicine. He completed an internship, residency, and chief residency in pediatrics at Massachusetts General Hospital. Dr. Zalitis worked at Harvard Pilgrim Health Care in Boston for seventeen years and was a clinical instructor in pediatrics at Harvard Medical School. He then spent seven years practicing pediatrics in Latvia and teaching medical students and pediatric residents at the University of Latvia in Riga. He joined Pediatrics Plus in 2006. His interests include playing classical piano, attending theater and opera, and spending time with his wife and son. Every other Saturday, he and his wife teach American-Latvian children Latvian language, history, geography and folklore.
Kate Manuel, APRN, is a board certified pediatric nurse practitioner and a certified lactation counselor. She received her MSN from the Yale University School of Nursing and joined Pediatrics Plus in 2009. Kate has special interests in caring for and supporting breastfeeding mothers and babies and asthma management. She also has experience taking care of critically ill children in Yale's pediatric intensive care unit. In her spare time, she loves running, travel, and spending time with her daughter and husband.
Cheryl Savoca, APRN is a family nurse practitioner who received her MS at the University of Massachusetts at Lowell. She is board certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. She has worked as a nurse practitioner in pediatrics for more than twenty years and has been at Pediatrics Plus since 1997. She is a mother of three children and enjoys the outdoors and playing violin.
